A Rundown of Shopping, Eating, and Entertainment Options at Stonestown Galleria

Right down the road from the Parkmerced apartments in San Francisco sits the Stonestown Galleria, an 862,000-square-foot shopping haven that has been growing and thriving for over six decades and is now a retail and culinary institution. Its 112 venues run the gamut from large department stores to smaller boutiques and plenty of acclaimed restaurants. Here are some of our favorites:

Since bursting onto the scene in 2005, this Japanese clothing retailer has carved out quite a niche for itself. Uniqlo has an impressive stock of vibrant, well-made clothing for men and women of all ages. We love their Cool Biz line that features workwear to keep you cool and dry in the warm summer months.

Marbles: The Brain Store

Marbles is stocked full of incredible games, puzzles, books, and toys that help children (and adults) exercise their cerebral cortexes. It’s an intriguing and vibrant little space filled with offerings that you won’t find anywhere else.

Blue C Sushi

Blue C Sushi prepares fresh fish expertly and inventively in a bright and vibrant atmosphere. Beyond their high-quality sashimi and nigiri, they have an assortment of classic rolls, as well as a growing list of undeniably fanciful options.

Blaze Pizza

A pizza in 180 seconds—that’s the claim to fame of Blaze Pizza, a restaurant that keeps its oven so piping hot that the thin-crust pizzas bake in three minutes flat. The dough is made from scratch, and the pies are fresh and crispy. There are nine signature pizzas on the menu, or you can build your own from a lineup of over 40 toppings.

Le Macaron

Le Macaron serves up sinfully delicious French macarons, as well as chocolates and gelato, all perfect for an afternoon tea or after-dinner treat.

Not in the macaron mood? How about some ridiculously flavorful ice cream? Cream currently has 22 flavors, including blueberry walnut fudge and our favorite, strawberry cheesecake. Furthermore, the handmade ice cream sandwiches here are the stuff of dreams.

United Artists Theatre

The United Artists Theatre in Stonestown has two theaters, both equipped with stadium seating. Smuggle in a snack from one of the places listed above, or keep things classic with popcorn and a soda.

Farmers’ Market

For some, a farmers’ market is an opportunity to run errands. For others, it is a spectacle of down-to-earth industry and culinary inspiration. Every Sunday from 9AM to 1PM, you can visit the Stonestown Farmers’ Market and eat, buy, observe, and learn to your heart’s (and stomach’s) content.

Off the Grid

Saturdays in July will feature Off the Grid, a rather innovative blend of innovative food trucks and a dance party. Truly, this is a potent combination; you can work up a sweat and reward yourself by partaking in dishes from Happy Dumplings, The Waffle Roost, and Sanguchon (among many more).

Art of Reflexology

Shopping all day, dragging those bags from store to store, can be tough on the back, and that is where the Art of Reflexology comes in. Certified therapists provide relaxing deep tissue chair massages, as well as foot and full body treatments in a traditional Chinese style.
