Living in SF Made Easy by Parkmerced

Situated in the southwest area of San Francisco, Parkmerced is in a prime location for those yearning for a home just outside of downtown, but with all the access and convenience the entire city has to offer. Parkmerced Shopping Center

Sometimes you do not even need to leave our community to get the things you need. The shops on Cambon Drive serve as a convenient stop for grocery shopping at Park Plaza Fine Foods, sipping an almond milk latte at Spressa, grabbing a ready-to-eat pizza at Papa John’s, or a nightcap at The Lister.

Many of our residents find comfort knowing most their needs can be fulfilled within minutes just by walking out their front doors. Although we have 43 laundry rooms on-site, Wash ‘n Dry Laundry and the Wash Locker have storefronts here to make getting those extra large loads cleaned in a jiffy.

And with some of our favorite lunch and dinner spots like Hall of Flame Burgers and Taqueria Dos Charros right here, there’s no need to go too far for a good bite. Do not forget to read about some more of our top spots for lunch near Parkmerced.

Grocery Stores in the Neighborhood

Of course it is tough to have everything all on-site, however much of what you would one is within a few minutes walk or drive away. The closest Whole Foods Market is a quick trip down Ocean Avenue in neighboring Ingleside. There you will find all natural and organic items. The Trader Joe’s at Stonestown Galleria can fill in the specialty items you’re looking for, and the best part is that it is about a ten-minute stroll from Parkmerced.

Stonestown Galleria

Fine Dining and Nightlife: There are many cool restaurants and cafés that will satisfy if dining out is on your agenda. Our favorites include Blue C Sushi, Boudin Sourdough Bakery & Cafe, La Baguette, and Built, By The Counter. As for nightlife, there is not much of a late night scene at Stonestown. On your walk back through the SFSU campus, you may find yourself at The Pub at SFSU where you can find a young, hip, college crowd.

Shopping and Boutiques: We would say most of our shopping gets done at the Stonestown Galleria with Macy’s and Nordstrom anchoring the mall. But we also love Cotton On, Forever 21, and H&M just the same. There are a lot of favorites here from your fashion spots to your electronics, so make Stonestown your first shopping destination.

Beauty, Health, and Wellness: It may come as no surprise that Stonestown has quite a few options for getting glam, staying healthy, or both! Sephora makes sure your cosmetics are taken care of while you wait for your appointment at Regis Salon. And for any supplement needs, GNCensures you “Live Well”, and we do too! For fitness needs, there is a Stonestown Family YMCA and The City Sports Club at your disposal.

West Portal

Fine Dining and Nightlife: West Portal has a lot of to offer, but we’re pretty set with our picks. You cannot go wrong with dining at Trattoria Da Vittorio, Fresca, Bursa, and Greenhouse Cafe. And when it comes to entertainment and nightlife, Portal’s Tavern, Que Syrah, the Philosopher’s Club, and Calibur should be on your list to explore.

Shopping and Boutiques: Walking along West Portal is one of our favorite activities because of the quaint boutiques and shopping opportunities that are available. Grab a coffee from Starbucks and peruse the Art of Style, White Rose Boutique, and Simply Bella. And since you can jump on the light rail, you can be there under ten minutes!

Beauty, Health, and Wellness: On West Portal Avenue, you will find a myriad of spas and salons line the street. It is best to do your personal research about which one is best for you. From West Portal Spa, Zen Beauty Spa, and Island Dream Spa, we want to say you cannot go wrong. For staying fit, Pure Barre and Back to Sports Fitness & Therapy provide the exercise you need.

Ocean Avenue

Fine Dining and Nightlife: Ocean Avenue is quickly becoming a hot spot for new restaurants and bars. You can easily grab a good bite and a drink. For dining, the diverse cuisine options are astounding from Quan Pho to Melanie’s Bistro that serves both Italian and Latin foods. Let us not forget about Jo Jo’s Cafe, which is a Chinese-American hybrid. If food is not what you’re seeking, The Ave Bar or Randy’s Place are your libation headquarters.

Shopping and Boutiques: Shopping at Ocean Avenue is mostly dominated by the nearby Target. However, check out the smaller boutiques like In Style and Lili Knit Creations.

Beauty, Health, and Wellness: And along nearby Ocean Avenue, there are plenty of ways to get beautified at great locations such as Linda Ocean Nails (best nail art in San Francisco), Jolie Elegant Spa and Glitz Hair Salon. Of course, with a 24 Hour Fitness close by, time is not an excuse to avoid getting in a workout! Just make sure to visit Hot Yoga Ocean Ave. to keep things flexible!

Outer Sunset

Fine Dining and Nightlife: The area just north of Parkmerced known as Outer Sunset has an array of restaurants and cafés worth checking out. From Tazaki Sushi and Saiwaii Ramen to Crepe Temptations and Pisces California Cuisine, there is an eclectic mix of diverse cuisines for your palate to soak up. And for nightlife, you can catch a game at Fire Fly Sports Bar or keep it classy at Celia’s By The Beach. But make sure to see the food and drinks they are whipping up at Sea Breeze Restaurant.

Shopping and Boutiques: Outer Sunset’s beach vibe presents the chance to diversify the wardrobe with Mollusk Surf Shop, Aqua Surf Shop, and Super Fly Custom Apparel. We also love Establish’s gift shop and studio for local designers. Swing by the General Store on Judah St. for an eclectic inventory of books, clothes, artisanal housewares, and furniture.

Beauty, Health, and Wellness: Keeping the hair fresh and having the skin feeling good in Outer Sunset is a breeze. Some great spas and salons include Overland One Salon, Unique Beauty Salon, and Virtuoso For Hair. By the beach, there’s definitely a surplus of yoga studios. Some of our favorites are Yoga Beach, Dharma Yoga SF, and Ocean Beach Yoga SF.
