COVID kiosk comes to Parkmerced
Until now, getting a COVID test required patients to navigate a complicated process to find out where and how to get tested. Plus, the notorious swabbing of the back of your sinuses, the “brain tickle,” as some call it, was uncomfortable.
We are thrilled to invite you to a new pilot project in our community which makes getting tested as easy as walking across the parking lot to Curative’s new testing kiosk. The free oral-fluid test is far less invasive and has a higher accuracy rate (100% sensitivity, 100% specificity) than the nasal swab tests most people are familiar with. Results are texted or emailed to you within 48 hours of testing. To ensure accurate results, resist the temptation to eat, drink, chew gum, smoke, or brush your teeth a half-hour before taking the test.
The test itself begins with a couple of coughs into your arm to loosen things up, so the virus mixes with saliva. Run the supplied swab above and below your tongue and around the roof of your mouth. Then place it in the tube and mix the solution with your sample. Seal the tube in the secure container, and Curative handles the rest. No need to come into contact with others as the kiosk is self-contained and secure. You can watch the how-to video here.
